This 4th of July I wanted to make somewhat of a festive dessert for the party that one of our friends are having. I found this recipe and thought what a wonderful idea! Red, white, and blue...and of course CHOCOLATE!
I am going to end of making two of these, one for the party and one for my husband to take to work. Unfortunately, he will be working the 4th of July this year :( Probably treating all the burn victims from lighting off fireworks!
1 box (1 lb 6.5 oz) Betty Crocker® Original Supreme brownie mix
(Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box)
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
1 cup fresh blueberries
1 cup fresh raspberries
1/2 cup apple jelly
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of 12-inch pizza pan with cooking spray or shortening.
2. In medium bowl, stir brownie mix, pouch of chocolate syrup, water, oil and eggs until well blended. Spread in pan.
3. Bake 28 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out clean or almost clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
4. In small bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Spread mixture evenly over brownie base. Arrange berries over cream cheese mixture. Stir jelly until smooth; brush over berries. Refrigerate about 1 hour or until chilled. Cut into wedges. Store covered in refrigerator.
UPDATE: I edited the recipe a little. When I mixed up the brownie mix, I realized there was WAY too much for that little pizza pan. I decided to make the 9x13 pan according to the back of the box directions. I then used the rest of the above ingredients and made an American Flag. It turned out pretty cute!
